Employment Pass

Updated: Jul 29

The Employment Pass allows foreign professionals, managers and executives with a job offer to work in Singapore. Candidates need to earn at least $5,000 a month and have acceptable qualifications. Employers must also demonstrate that they have fairly considered all jobseekers.

Why Singapore Employment Pass

The Singapore Employment Pass (EP) is a work visa that allows foreign professionals, managers, and executives to work in Singapore. It is a popular visa for foreign workers who want to live and work in Singapore, as it offers a number of advantages, including:

  • High salary requirement: The EP salary requirement is relatively high, which means that only foreign professionals with high salaries are eligible. This helps to ensure that EP holders are making a significant contribution to the Singapore economy.

  • No local hire requirement: Businesses do not need to have local hires before they can hire EP holders. This can save businesses time and money.

  • Longer validity period: EPs are valid for up to 2 years, and can be renewed for up to 5 years. This gives EP holders a long-term visa that allows them to live and work in Singapore without having to worry about their visa status.

  • Family sponsorship: EP holders can sponsor their spouse and children to come to Singapore on dependant passes. This allows their family to live and work in Singapore with them.

  • Pathway to permanent residency: EP holders who meet certain criteria can apply for permanent residency (PR) in Singapore. PR is a valuable status that allows EP holders to live and work in Singapore permanently, and to sponsor their family members for PR.

If you are a foreign professional, manager, or executive who is looking to work in Singapore, the Singapore Employment Pass is a good option to consider. It offers a number of advantages that can make it easier for you to live and work in Singapore.

Here are some of the specific reasons why you might want to get an Singapore Employment Pass:

  • To start your own business: The EP also allows you to start your own business in Singapore. This is a good option if you are an entrepreneur who wants to set up a business in Singapore.

  • To be with your family: If you have a family, the EP allows you to sponsor your spouse and children to come to Singapore on dependant passes. This means that your family can live and work in Singapore with you.
