Business Registration

Business Registration

To register a business in Singapore, you will need to:

  1. Choose a business structure. The most common business structures in Singapore are sole proprietorship, partnership, limited liability partnership (LLP), and private limited company (PLC). Each structure has its own advantages and disadvantages, so it is important to choose the one that is right for your business.

  2. Choose a business name. Your business name must be unique and must not be similar to the name of any other existing business in Singapore. You can search for available business names on the Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority (ACRA) website.

  3. Reserve a business name. If you have found an available business name, you can reserve it for up to 120 days. This will give you time to prepare your registration documents and complete the registration process.

  4. Register your business. You can register your business online through the BizFile+ portal. You will need to provide certain information, such as your business name, business structure, and the names and addresses of your directors and shareholders.

  5. Pay the registration fee. The registration fee for a PLC is SGD315. The registration fee for other business structures is SGD15.

Once you have registered your business, you will need to obtain any necessary licenses or permits. You can find a list of required licenses and permits on the ACRA website.

Here are some additional tips for registering a business in Singapore:

  • If you are a foreigner, you will need to engage the services of a registered filing agent to submit your registration application on your behalf.

  • If you are registering a PLC, you must have at least one director who is a Singapore citizen, permanent resident, or EntrePass holder.

  • You must also have a registered office address in Singapore.

  • You must submit your registration application within 60 days of starting your business.
